Founded in 1861, and located in the heart of downtown Seattle, University of Washington is one of the oldest public universities on the West Coast. Its multi-campus university extends out to the Tacoma and Bothell areas, and includes the well-known University of Washington Medical Center. In addition to the spectacular campus, UW has available to their 48,000-student enrollment, 16 colleges and schools, with 1800 undergraduate courses available for their choosing. These many different academic options have contributed to the Academic Ranking of World Universities ranking the University of Washington 16th place amongst universities worldwide.
ATHLETICS AT THE UNIVERSITY OF WASHINGTON IN SEATTLE
Husky Stadium is home to the University of Washington football team. Opened in 1920, Husky Stadium is known for being one of the loudest stadiums in college football, and was voted the most scenic football structure in the nation. In addition, some game attendees looking to tailgate before games arrive on boats because the stadium is so close to Lake Washington – an experience you’ll have a hard time finding at other universities. Finally, Husky Stadium is known to be the largest stadium in the Northwest with a seating capacity of 72,500.
