LeMay – America’s Car Museum
Classic cars from the world’s largest private car collection are on display just minutes away from Silver Cloud Hotel Tacoma at Point Ruston Waterfront. LeMay – America’s Car Museum (ACM) opened its doors in June 2012 and is one of the largest automobile museums in the world.
A number of the vintage and classic cars showcased at America’s Car Museum are from the personal collection of Harold LeMay, who accumulated the largest, privately owned collection of automobiles, motorcycles, trucks and related automobile memorabilia in the world.
According to David Madeira, President & CEO of LeMay Museum, “Everybody remembers their first car, family driving vacations, a sports car they fell in love with as a teenager. Personal experiences with cars are part of life in America, and with assistance from the Harold and Nancy LeMay family collection, we’ll spotlight more than a century of automotive history at LeMay – America’s Car Museum.”
Tacoma’s new car museum, located across from the Tacoma Dome and just 30 minutes south of Seattle, showcases automobiles remarkable for their speed, technology and design, as well as their importance to American history and culture. The museum campus contains a 3.5-acre show field, theatre, café, a banquet hall, meeting spaces and hosts museum events for families and auto enthusiasts alike.
